Detailed description of the chart scheme

The Salaat & Quran Chart Scheme – 2010

Introductory Notes

The Salaat Chart [classes 4-8]

The Objectives:

The recitation of our daily ‘Salaat' can never be emphasized enough. Our Holy Prophet (S) and the Holy Aimmah (A) went so far as to say that all your other actions will only be accepted if your Salaat is accepted, and that these will be rejected if your Salaat is rejected. The Salaat Chart Scheme is a Madressa initiative to actively encourage the students to offer their Salaat regularly and on time.

How does the Salaat Chart scheme work?

From 2009, Salaat Charts have been submitted electronically on SIMOSS, SIM’s virtual collaboration platform. As of 2010, only in exceptional circumstances will paper submission be accepted. Each student in these classes is to duly complete for each week the Salaat Chart as follows:

- For every Salaat that is recited on time a tick (√) is put in the appropriate box and amounts to 3 points.

- For every Salaat that is prayed “Qadha” a tick (√) is put in the Q box and amounts to 1 point.

- And for those Salaat that are not prayed at all, do not tick anything and no points are awarded.

This is done for each day and a total of 15 points can be awarded per day and a therefore a maximum of 105 points per week. Charts must be submitted within two weeks of the last date to have the points on the charts recognized. The online system will automatically default to zero points if it is submitted later than two weeks. A full set of instructions on how to complete the Salaat chart can be found on SIMOSS.

WHAT DOES IT ALL COUNT TOWARDS?

Submission marks

In order to give additional importance to this scheme a maximum of 10% of the annual Fiqh mark will be allocated to the submission (i.e. with the two weeks grace period) of “completed” Salaat charts during the year.
