Talk given to Preschool Children on Eid-ul-Hajj

Good Morning Children.....Today we are here to tell you about a very important day in the year for Muslim all around the world and that day is EID! Eid is a very happy and special time for Muslims and on the day of Eid, we put on nice clothes, all the Daddys and brothers go to the mosque for some special Eid prayers and we make really tasty food for everyone to eat when they come back. We also give presents to all our friends and family and we remember those who dont have money to buy food our clothes by giving money to the poor. Everyone is really happy on Eid and when we see each other we give each other big hugs and say Eid Mubarak...which means Happy Eid!

Today, I also want to tell you about a special Eid which is the Eid-ul-Hajj. This is a type of Eid when we celebrate a very special journey called Hajj that Muslims make to a very holy place called Makkha. In Makkha, there is a very special building called the Kaaba, which we believe is the House of God. It is a big black square building with a door made of gold and special Arabic writing all around it. It also has a very special golden pipe attached to it and an amazing black stone which Muslims believe came from Heaven. When Muslims visit the Kaaba, they all want to touch and kiss this stone as it is very special.

When Muslims make the special journey to Makkha, they go round and round the Kaaba seven times and they also run between two mountains seven times. Do you know why they do this? Well, let me tell you......it all started long, long ago, when a very important Prophet called Ibrahim went with his wife called Hajarah and their very tiny baby Ismail to a desert far, far away. When they got there, Prophet Ibrahim couldnt stay there and had to leave the desert quickly and so he left his wife Hajarah and their little baby Ismail in the desert and because he was such a good man, he had trust in God that He will take care of them.

Soon enough, after a few days, Hajarah ran out of food to eat and feed her baby and she also ran out of water to drink and give her little baby. As there were in a desert, there was no water to be found as there were no taps there like nowadays, so she climbed all the way to the top of a big Mountain called Saffa to try and find water. She couldnt find any water there. So she ran all the way to the top of another BIG mountain called Marwa and she couldnt find any water from there either! Oh no! What was she going to do. My poor baby Ismail, he is so thirsty, she thought, let me try again. So she ran between the 2 mountains 7 times and on the seventh time, she wa looking down at her little baby Ismails feet and he was kicking the ground. Suddenly, a gush of water came from the ground like a big fountain! It was a miracle and Hajara and her baby Ismail were saved! There was so much water that they never went thirsty while they were in the desert again and this water became a big well called Zam Zam that is still there in Makkha till today and when Muslims go to Makkha, they can still drink this water till today and they always bring some back for their friends and family to drink too! And that is why, until today, Muslims run between the two mountain Saffa and Marwa, to remember Hajarah and her little baby Ismail and how she never gave up, no matter how hard things were.

We hope you enjoyed that story....now would you all like to make some puzzles of the Holy Kaaba and the Holy Prophets Mosque?
