At the Madressa we expect all our students to behave appropriately with the best Akhlaq at all times. Remember you are responsible for your own behaviour!

“Whoever joins himself (to another) in a good cause shall have a share of it, and whoever joins himself (to another) in an evil cause shall have the responsibility of it, and Allah controls all things.” [4:85]

Behaviour which is unacceptable is as follows:

  • Bullying [see below]
  • Swearing
  • Smoking
  • Theft
  • Possession of an offensive weapon
  • Possession, distribution or use of illegal drugs
  • Damage to property

 

Bullying:

  • Bullying is any action that which hurts or threatens another person physically, mentally or emotionally
  • Bullying is done with the intention of causing distress and can usually take place over a period of time

 

Bullying can be:

  • Emotional - Being unfriendly, excluding, tormenting (e.g. hiding books, threatening gestures)
  • Physical - Pushing, kicking, hitting, punching or any use of violence
  • Racist - Racial taunts, graffiti, gestures
  • Verbal - Name-calling, sarcasm, spreading rumours, teasing
  • Cyber - All areas of internet ,such as  email & internet chat room misuse, Mobile threats by text messaging & calls, Misuse of associated technology , i.e. camera & video facilities

 

What to do if you are/if you know someone who is being bullied:

  • You must always speak to an adult – either a teacher, parent or member of the Madressa administration, who will be willing to help
  • Know that any bullying incident is treated in the strictest of confidence and will be dealt with both quickly and appropriately
