The Madressa requires teachers to assess the progress of the students on a continuous basis. This process allows teachers to evaluate the learning of their students and, to an extent, the effectiveness of their teaching.

The dates for submitting the revision lists, assessments and answer papers are circulated over the course of the year by the administration team through the respective HoDs.

In order to assist teachers to prepare the assessments, past papers and assignments are also available from the Administration team as well as located on the Madressa Dropbox, which is accessible for to all our staff members through this link.

The final mark for a student’s performance is based on First Term Test, Coursework and Final Examination.

1st Term Test

All departments and teachers will set 1st term tests. Within these tests, teachers are expected to cover at least six, but no more than seven topics and these tests will roughly occurs in April / May each academic year.

Coursework / 2nd Term Tests

In 2009, Madressa succesfully launched online examinations for the first time to test students. This may be a possibility which will be further explored in the future.

Examination

Madressa holds an annual end of year examination for all students, the dates for these will be communicated by the administration team.  Once again, teachers are expected to cover no more than seven, and no less than six topics within the final exam.

The marking of the assessments has to follow the very strict timetable set out every year so that the administration team can carry out the task of collation and preparation of data in good time for the parent’s day and the annual presentation which would follow shortly after the 1st term test and the annual exams respectively.

The examination at the end of the year allows the teacher to assess how much the student has learnt that year. The exam will be a written paper (oral tests are usually reserved only for younger classes).
