Dear Parents / Students

Salamun Alaikum

As we are all aware the benefits of daily recitation of Holy Quran amongst our students and to enhance the level of recitation further, Quran department has made a scheme to work with all boys (in classes 1-7) and girls (in classes 1-11) who are in big Quran and can recite fluently. Students are required to recite Quran with you daily as is shown in the attached planner starting from 1st Juz of the Quran. (e.g - week 1 Monday Surah Baqarah verses 1-7, Tuesday 8 - 20, Wednesday 21-29, Thursday 30-33 and so on).

All students in above classes have been given this planner and parents are requested to sign everyday once your child has recited. Students are also required to listen to the recitation of the same verses that they recite everyday. Click here to listen. All students must bring their own Quran every Sunday.

Please note due to Madressa closure on week 1 - 10th January, students will be reciting verses of week of 24th January on 31st January when Madressa is closed for Ashra Zainabia.

Walk of Compassion to Karbala 2010

Bismihi Ta’ala

Dear Parents / Students

Salamun Alaykum

Alhamdulillah, we are happy to inform you that we are launching a Madressa charity project entitled Walk of Compassion to Karbala 2010.

Attached below, is a copy of the Walk of Compassion to Karbala 2010 sponsor form and a letter to sponsors informing them about the project.

Like previous projects in 2009, such as M’Egg a Difference and the Ali Asgher Water Appeal, the aim is to raise student awareness of the plight of Muslim suffering around the world and help them to actively make a difference.

Our current project will provide food for drought victims in Kenya. In the region of Ukambani, Kenya, harvests have failed, leaving people so desperately hungry that they crush the fruit of baobab trees and mix it with water to survive.

The sponsored ziyarah to Karbala will raise funds for emergency food rations distributed by the Bilal Muslim Mission, for the starving people of Ukambani. The cost of feeding the people of Ukambani for one month is £4387; we hope to raise enough funds to provide food for a few months in this difficult time.

This Safar, as we remember the hunger and thirst of Imam Husayn and his family in Karbala, let us feed others by motivating our children to participate in a sponsored Walk of Compassion to Karbala 2010.

Parents are also highly encouraged to participate in the walk themselves and obtain sponsors. Let us make helping others a family activity.

The journey from London to Karbala and back is approximately 8,406 kilometres. While they will not physically make this journey, each Madressa student will walk 8,406 steps, each step representing one kilometre travelled towards the Holy shrine of Imam Hussayn in Karbala.

Each participant will be provided with a pedometer (step counter) to facilitate counting the number of steps taken. There is a registration fee of £2.00 to cover the cost of the pedometers.

As the nights of Ashra Zaynabiyya are upon us, we urge you, in the spirit of Lady Zaynab’s remembrance, to help our desperate brothers and sisters in Ukambani.

Funds raised by each student will be collected in Madressa on Sunday, March 07, 2010.  It is the responsibility of each student to ensure funds are collected from all sponsors before this date.

If you have any queries, please contact us on 07866523496.

May Allah bless your efforts.
